Description as a Tweet:

ColorPict: A system to detect the color pallet you are already using through an image and recommend compatible colors.

It was a cool and achievable project idea.

What it does:

Recommends colors based on an existing pallet in a sleek and easy-to-use system.

How we built it:

The hardest part was coming up with the idea. Once we had the idea part of our team experimented with color detection systems and different ideas for that, while other members of the team worked on a design prototype. About halfway through the competition, we brought together what we had come up with and implemented it in a Django project.

Technologies we used:

  • Javascript
  • Python
  • Django

Challenges we ran into:

Most of our team members had little to no programming experience but we worked together and with our one team member's programming skills and the design and idea input and willingness to learn of the rest of the team made light work of the project.

Accomplishments we're proud of:

Our team came up with an amazing design and managed to implement it too.

What we've learned:

The fastest way is not always the best way.

What's next:

If this project is to live on it would need refinement of the recommendation algorithms, some additional features, and a lot of work on the responsiveness of the design. It would also need a monetization scheme and somewhere to live on the web.

Built with:

VSCode, Figma, and Firefox

Prizes we're going for:

  • Apple AirPods 3rd Gen
  • JBL Clip Bluetooth Speakers
