Recreate, rejuvenate, nurture your local community by bonding over shared history, trivia, experiences, stories and even offerings (unconditionally free only).

Inspiration:

The pandemic has resulted in the breakdown of local communities in urban environments almost entirely. However as social animals, local communities are the building blocks of our existence. In an ever polarizing landscape where social media platforms seem to add to the polarizations and while it seems we've connected globally, it does seem like we are losing out locally.
A strong local community bond results in the community agreeing on the best course of action in case of issues like community vaccination, etc, which in recent times have been super polarized.
Apart from that loneliness, integration into a new town's local community and sustainable communities in the case of climate emergencies is the need of the hour.

What it does:

My project provides an alternative social media space for local communities to bond over shared history, trivia, stories and experiences. It also allows the members to offer free things (views, harvest, etc) to make the local bonds stronger by including all diverse groups.

How we built it:

I learnt to use appsheets by Google and built it

Technologies we used:

  • HTML/CSS
  • Javascript

  • Misc

Challenges we ran into:

I had to learn how to use appsheets within 24 hours

Accomplishments we're proud of:

I'm super proud of how the application looks in terms of prototype expectations.

What we've learned:

Appsheets!!!! Also learnt how local communities contribute to the social lives of humans over time.

What's next:

I want to add more features like a page to add events off eventbrite or some other site and display them.
